hey hey,

IM excited, so i'm telling people, I finally got some employment after 2.5 months of no money/food/rent.

I work for a independant music shop in Bellingham WA, we aren't an EBMM dealer (yet), but we do have most other brands.

so add another resource to your pile of hookups available on this board, cause you know i'll take care of anyone here.

pm me if anyone needs anything, guitar/bass/drums/keys/horns (horns?)/accessories/PA.
I've got it all now.

thanks!
this is the greatest board on earth (better than the one i had in the clubhouse as a kid that had naked pictures on it!)

i assume it's more in reference to the ability to be able to bring home bacon, rather than spend each day deciding if im hungry enough for tuna helper or if i should save it so I can eat tomorrow....

ahhhh.....

Hey, cool- I'm from Bellingham...where do you work? My friend Scott works (or used to) at Manna Music down on Holly Street- and he used to work for Mojo before that, I'm not sure if they're around anymore.

Does John Memolo still have his store downtown?

i actually work for mojo music.

and yeah, john still has his shop, he had initially agreed to hire me, but when I moved up here, i kept getting the runaround "try at the end of next week", it was lame.

So i go to mojo and I'm talking to them, and i find out they've been expecting me because the mesa boogie rep has been talking me up, kinda wierd..

Joel-

Interesting. I basically grew up in Bellingham- lived there in the 80's. John was the big hotshot guitarist in town back then- he used to work at Manna music when Manna's was out on Northwest, next to Yeager's (I think Jamie moved manna down to holly street 6 or 7 years ago, maybe more). A lot of my friends took lessons from Memolo- I never really knew him, but he seemed to have that whole "I'm a better guitarist than you" attitude.

My buddy Scott Greene works for manna now (I think he still does- but right now he's touring with the DT's in Europe, so I heard) and he worked for Mojo's years ago, I think the owner's name is/was Doug?

Hope you like it there- I got my master's from Western in '98 but I've only been back a couple times since then.

I really have no clue what you are talking about.... for as long as I've known John, he's been a humble guy.... more interested in writing songs and getting his voice in shape. The conversations I've had with him lead me to believe that he found all that shred guitar stuff to be Flavor-of-the-Month lame. He supplimented his income by teaching it. Any "attitude" you sensed must have stemmed from your OWN insecurities as a guitar player. The fact that it has any relevance in your life right now, or at least enough for you to mention it in this forum is evidence of this. If you knew him, you wouldn't be talking $hit.

As far as people working for him, he's supplied employment for students and the community in and around Bellingham since he started Musician's Center, he continues to do so.

If you boys want to wail on some guitar player I don't know, that's okay with me, but do it in private.

Okey dokey?

woah there buddy... calm yourself... you don't go attacking someone for stating their impression. Especially on your first post.

and really, your argument doesn't make sense "you thought he was a pompous jerk only because you are unsure of your own abilities!" does not make sense.

so chill yourself, you sound like your writing a press release for Musicians Center. It's a nice shop, lacking in product, but has some cool stuff plus they do amp repair.

this thread sure came back from the grave..

Agreed! Introduce yourself and get to know some of the people here before you feel entitled to ripping any of them (or me) a new one...just good manners.
