OT: New Amp

Well I bit the bulit and went for a new amp the other day. On a bit of a buget so boogies/cornfords were out of the window...BUT...man i ended up with a totaly cool head.

I never thought i would buy one again but i did.

Enter the Marshall Vintage Modern 50w head.

This has got all of the sounds and character that I have been looking for, for a long time. It is missing a bit of bottom end....but it is a marshall (they all are)!!!! so a bit of a mod on the way too.:cool:

Go from Hendtix to whitesnake. The amp is so responsive to you playing dynamics it is not real. Not a metal amp, but amazing for RAWK!

I had the pleasure of checking one of those out the other day and they are amazing amps. You nailed it when you mentioned how responsive they are to picking attack and the individual nuances of different playing techniques. Maybe I'll have to speak to Mrs Pug and see if Santa will need a hand-truck to help with my gift this year :D

I my my current junk blindfolded because of the name.

But I do know they have some good ones.

I'm not a fan of the solid state M's but the valve one's I have had have been awesome. My old Marshall is a great little thing - it'll be 20 years old in December - I found the bill of sale today of all things!!

Paul Gilbert is actually toting the Vintage Modern amps on the G3 tour now. I guess his Laneys are yesterday's news? And I suppose if this guy thinks they're good, they MUST be okay... although I don't think this guy is going to make it in the biz.

I assume your Marshall is 1987 (yeah, I did the math, LOL). What model is it and do you still have it??

Marshall built some "great" amps in the 80's!! I was wondering if the "American" counterpart of that same year had the same "power tubes" or not.

On my original 93' JCM 900 High Gain Master Vol MK111, (bought at Guitar Center in Berkeley, Calif) it came with EL34's; and that the UK had the 6L6's. So, I couldn't compare them at the time. Have any idea why Marshall may have done it that way and if they still do that type of geographical factory "part" selection?

It's an awesome head (only two years of production) - I guess it's considered Vintage now. Thanks:)
