It's been too many months since I went to sleep knowing my beloved SR5s were only a few feet away in the bedroom closet and it's been over 2 months since I moved into my new place after rehab discharge , and because I had to plan moving from a hospital bed, I asked a good friend of mine to keep my babys safe in his vault to prevent any "accidents" at the back of a moving truck ... today, he brought them home to me and tonight, another good friend dropped by to place them in their sacred spots in the nearest closet ... Sadly, I still have no finger action and I'm too shaky to stand up and pickup a bass with my good hand, but my baby's are in fact home with me, safe and sound, and one of these days, Sweetheart will help me get one on my knee to see if we can get lefty moving again:)There be more SR5 Piezo Lovin' in my future, I can feel it in my bones:)
Thanx again YouZ'All for all your kind words and encouragement, and suggestions about how to get making Music again:cool::)

Don't lose your focus.

Way back in the early 90s, one of my best friends met his "Waterloo", as he calls it, in a motorcycle accident. He and I go back so far that we actually shared a crib. Anyway, let's just say he's now not quite so fast on his feet as he used to be.

Anyway, when I found out about the accident, I called him as soon as I could. He was still in the hospital. The news was bad. He would never escape the wheelchair. Well, that was bad, but my question was - how are your arms? Can you play guitar?

And he laughed. His arms were okay. He could still play guitar. His wife (now ex-wife) was pissed off because so many of us had asked that most important question! Not, "Can you open a can of beans" or "Can you smack your wife if she needs it" but "Can you play guitar?"

He can still play guitar. Long after she abandoned him, he could still, if you wanted, do a pretty decent three hour show. (I know him, though - he'd want tips.)

And remind me that I need to ask Steve Morse for an autograph or something. My pal thinks the world of Steve Morse.

My point is this. You had a stroke and that sucks. If it were me, I'd probably be a little more descriptive. But it does suck. But your brain is designed to make new connections. It can - and it will. It's a little harder for a severed spinal cord, but I remain hopeful, as I'm sure my buddy Dave does.

I often offer to kick Dave's ass, and he certainly needs and deserves it.

I hereby offer you the same.

Never give up. If your left hand isn't working, then find ways to do it with the right hand. But keep looking for ways to do it, okay?

And if there's anything I can do, anything we can do, say the word.

You're a member of the family.

I echoe all that bovinehost said. The brain and the human body is a amazing machine indeed and the inventor should be nominated for the Nobel prize. It can take time to come back after a thing like this but determination and a positive spirit will take you a long way. And all of us here are thinking about you and wishing for a speedy recovery. A bass guitar doesn´t like to be placed in a closet so do your best to get well soon.

German legendary electric up-right player Eberhard Weber (Jan Garbarek, Kate Bush, Pat Metheny e.t.c.) went through the same thing this last summer. Paralized totally on his left side. I heard that he´s recovering now and it looks like he´ll be out and playing again ahead.

Sincerely//Jan

There's a new song in here somewhere

Hey Jack and YouZ'All, once again, thanx everybody for your patience with my recent ramblings and all your words of support and encouragement ... This forum is a bright and cheerful place :)which has been an enormous help to me over the last months since I was able to get a connection back on a rehab PC, and it's sure not my intention to foul the air and atmosphere like a grumpy old fleabitten mongrel that needs a bath ... so, if any of you thinks I need a kick in the ass, my rump is up in the air and I'm open for business ... my rehab doc used to think I needed a few swift kicks, but he was/is a very negative sort (just full of hate):eek:and his idea of smartinen me up was to tell me that I was living in the past to think that I'd ever play bass again :(... today was a luckier day, and I just had it confirmed that I've been matched with a peer mentor and I'm looking forward to communicating with a positive sort of person who's already risen from a heap on the floor;) and has something better to say than what Dr.Weasel can offer
so, once again, BIG Thanx to BP and Jack and all the mods and all Forumitez for keeping this place and me, going, and keeping it clean and fresh :)... You're all The Very Bestus and it's a proud moment to feel like Global family with all of you.

Just having them there is a good focal point for a goal to achieve. Your drive alone will help you get better. Just take it as it comes and enjoy the small victories as they are achieved. We are all rutting for ya.
