It has been an interesting few weeks. I have been fortunate enough to see 2 of my 6 favorite bassist (would have been 3, but I was sick when B Sheehan rolled into town with Steve Vai). Anyway, I caught John Taylor with Duran Duran 2 weeks ago (front row center) - he is a VERY under rated player and tastefully busy. But last night I was fortunate enough to catch the opening night of Victor Wooten's new tour... OH, MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have seen Victor several times before, with Bela, with Steve Bailey and on a solo tour... but last night I saw things that I never thought were possible. What was even more impressive was that most of it was in a musical context - not just soloing to hear himself play. His backup band was impressive (Reggie and Joseph Wooten are everybit as impressive as Victor). He played for almost 3 hours then stood outside and talked and signed for all of the fans for another hour and a half.

I have seen some good shows in my 34 years but this one takes it... if Victor rolls into your town go catch him (he is at the Newport in Columbus tonight).
