Geez! I've been up half the night answering questions from potential buyers!

Does this always happen? I'm kinda new to the whole selling thing. I mostly just buy.

And rarely ask questions of the seller. It's usually just a cd or something........And that doesn't require much inquiry!

And some people do this for a living? EEK!

I love the 800 emails I usually get about shipping to another country after I specifically say US only. Those E-bayers are a wild and crazy bunch.

Argh!

"Is this bass "VINTAGE"?

"I know that. But is it VINTAGE"?

UGH!

Oh wait.............

Here's another...............

"Is the ax on this guitar straight"?

Huh? Do you mean the neck? And you're just trying to sound cool?

"How does this bass compare to my Fender bass".

Uh, it doesn't..............

"Does this bass come in black"?

NO...........................

There is a new phishing scam that is coming through as an ebay question on your auction. Someone says that they saw another auction with your item listed and they are being helpful by giving you the link so you can see for yourself.

DON'T CLICK THAT LINK!!

I've bought a number of things from sellers who list their items as US only, often they're only too happy to sell to Europe at least.

Same here David.... Often a polite message steering the seller to your feedback does the trick. Brad can vouch for this for the 30th, personally that transaction was the sweetest international one I've had yet. :)

Dude, I hear ya. I've had 4 auctions in the last week and I feel like all I've done is answer questions. But it comes with the territory- and it's better than no inquiries at all.

I don't like eBay cause if I actually "win" an item, I paid the most for it!
Also, I find it annoying with the constant bid wars going on and people trying to snipe items with 1min left...although I guess it could be considered thrilling.

If I want something, I just buy it.

I've never sold anything on eBay, but my friends mom broke her leg trying to do it.
She climbed up on her toilet to take pictures of some "bathroom sinkside" items she makes/sells, when she fell off the toilet.

Sellers Beware!

I found the worst thing you can do is offer local pickup and/or delivery. I leared my lesson selling a Fender recently. The amount of gas, time and cell phone minutes I used trying to hook up with the clown that bought it, ended up likely costing me money.

A quick trip to the post office or UPS is so much easier and you also avoid the inevitable "inspection" of the instrument when the exchange is made.

I never bid on anything on Ebay until the very last second. I don't use a snipe program, I just time it myself. That way, I bid the maximum amount I'm willing to pay for an item without and sometime get it for less than I would have by bidding early. When you place your bid early, people can come in an "hunt" for your maximum proxy. By placing my bid at the last second, no one has the opportunity to raise it if my maximum is higher that everyone elses.

As a seller, I never mind when the bid is placed just as long as the buyer is serious and has the funds available when the auction closes.

My favorite is when they ask you, "why are you selling it?"

I guess some people assume that if you are selling it, there must be something wrong with it!

Don't they know about G.A.S.?

Well, true. 95% of the time I too just go out and buy things that would be sitting on a shelf at a store.
But ebay has gotten to be a must for many things. I'm into vintage gear, and years ago it was impossible to find things in my area. Ebay is nice because in 5 minutes I can find what I need, only problem is if I'm willing to sometimes pay a premium for vintage stuff. Where else are you going to find an original MM string-thru mute bridge? Or a correctly dated 1979 vol/tone control assembly? I bought a MM tolex case for my Sabre. The last vintage piece I had to find for my Fender was a correct 1966 volume pot...10yrs ago you simply didn't find stuff like that unless a someone happened to have one at an annual guitar show.

On monday I just bought a 77 Ray, and I got it for less than a vintage shop would have wanted for it.

And bidding at the last few seconds is what auctions in general have always been about, even before there was ever an ebay around.

Latest and greatest!

"How did you get this guitar? Mines (sp?) been on order for a year! What makes YOU so special"?

Reply?

I AM THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ!

I'll be glad when this auction is over. I've had quite a few questions asking me how I got it. GEEZ! You would think that Rickys are rare or something!
