Totally OT but......

trying to sort out some skiing for the kids - has to be early April because of school. Are any of the US resorts still open at that time of year? Tahoe would be good......

Any recommendations?

Muchas gracias

Most Rocky Mountain slopes are still open. I don't know much about Tahoe but Colorado is great.

Arapaho Basin
Copper Mountain
Breckenridge
Keystone
Vail

are all great.

I've always wanted to ski Whistler, BC though.....

Ah, spring skiing.

Almost all U.S. ski resorts are on U.S. Forest Service property and operate under leases that run through either April 15 or the third sunday in April (this year that would be April 16). So, yes they'll be open. Check on current snow amounts to see what will be remaining by April. Typically, snow remains very hard from overnight grooming until around 10 a.m. Then, it gets very soft around 3 p.m. So, the ski days get shorter as the season winds down.

BTW, I don't know how old your kids are, but Steamboat Springs, in Colorado, has packages where kids 12 and under stay for free and ski for free. Quite a good deal. The mountain is huge, one of the Rocky Mountain's bigger resorts, it normally gets lots of snow and the snow stays skiable for a long time into spring. I've skied it at the end of many ski seasons with no problems.

Most of the Vermont slopes are open in April - sometimes even in May. No guarantees though - it hasn't been the snowiest of winters. I've only had to start the snowblower twice!! However, if you did decide to drop by, you'd have a fellow knucklehead nearby. Wanna bring the Mr. H? ;)
