Very enlightening to watch him play. And inspirational.
I've been trying to learn everything using 1st position. But with shoulder problems from carrying a sousaphone for too many years, I've found it difficult and painful at times. I've thought about giving up the bass at times because of it. But after watching Sting play, was a bit inspired. Most of his work is down around the 5th fret. So I'm going to spend some time working out things lower on the neck and see if it helps. Maybe even tune it BEAD as some have asked about.
