hi folks,

my BOSS CE-5 has fried a few weeks ago and I've been struggling to find some new sweet pedal for me. I didn't like CE-5 so much as it was rather cold sounding and sterile. I want a nice warm tone which can go from subtle chorus like Eric Johnson to some nice and warm The Police tone, I was looking at various pedals and reading the reviews. There a lot of praise but then someone puts a negative comment that the pedal sucks, is noisy, sucks tone, increases volume or whatever and then I am confused, I can't try much of it as in my stores there a only Boss, Ibanez and Marshall all digital stuff

I was looking at Visual Sound H20, EHX small clone or clone theory, maybe mxr chorus,

thanks

I too am a CE-5 user, but I can't say I'm in love with it. I've not heard any other compact pedals that sound better to make me get rid of it though...

Good luck!

Definitely the TC Electronic SCF for me.
But it cost a bomb.

Very clean and ringing chorus, think the Roland Jazz Chorus amp.
But the Flanger isn't very usable IMO.

But if you have the budget, definitely give the TCE SCF a try.

The Fulltone Choralflange is a pretty sweet chorus/flanger pedal as well (and it does both very well). It's a hefty price - but not as bad as the TC SCF. EHX makes a whole range of chorus pedals now and they are all very good - although each does it's own thing.

I'd have to go with TC Electronics. All my gear is rack mount now, but they make the best pedals I've ever used.

I was wondering, can I get the same exact chorus on my TCE SCF on the G-major/G-system/G-force?

For one of the cheaper pedals, the Electro-Harmonix Small Clone sounded nice when I tried it out in the store. Of course, I don't know really how nice it can be/how much tone it sucks, because I was not using an amp that is familiar to me. The other thing is that there is not much control over the parameters of the chorus. It has only one knob and one switch. I guess their Micro Clone Theory would give more control.

I have G-major in my rack and, although I like its reverb, delay and whammy effects, I don't like its chorus and flanger.

I haven't tried SCF, so I can't compare it to G-major.

I use a Boss DC-3 Digital Dimension (DC stands for dimension chorus). Effect produces very clear reprications of guitar sound, sans detune effect of a normal chorus effect. Together with a digital delay - I'm in rhythm heaven. :D

Get the Tc Pedal, worth it!!!
@ Rossi : No you can´t get this sound out of the G-major. Different structure in total. I A/B tested it. Mucho difference.
Same with the TC Phaser XII (my favorite toy)

How about on the G-system/G-force?

+1 for the Fulltone Choral Flange - it's two pedals in one and it does a great univibe/Leslie impersonation as well as a really great doubling effect (ace for Randy Rhoads moments).

It's got lots of tweakability and you can run it in stereo plus it's true bypass (if you believe in that kind of thing).

I used to have a Boss CE-1, which sounded great but was kicked of my pedalboard because it was very difficult to set the input level so that it doesn't clip (I know there are some mods to alter the input level so that it's more suitable for guitar, but I don't want to mess around with vintage fx).
Now I use an Analogman bi-chorus, which I really love. Analog Man Chorus Pedals
There are some clips of it as well.
