We touched on the popularity of XM a while back, and I had been kicking around the idea of switching over to Sirius for the NHL games this year. Now I won't have to, and as a matter of fact, XM will be the sole provider of the NHL broadcasts in 2006 or 2007(I forget which). Anybody other than me really care? I mean......I'm AMPED!

ya, ya , well, I've been on the coast for 10 years now and am still the only Flames fan in Vancouver that I know. Haven't followed hockey closely for a few years except for playoffs, etc. but without hockey last year it was a very weird thing. I hadn't realized how much just having the game around on tv and in the papers helped calibrate what time of year it was and everything. Makes the igloos a little boring without Grapes and his weekly saturday night rants!

gotta look into this XM thing though, sounds interesting

BP, my husband (who is coming to the Open House) is a HUGE Devils fan. We live in Portland Oregon and every year (especiallywhen the Devs were in the playoffs etc) I'd find him standing by himself in front of a TV (whether at a friend's house or ours) drunk, with his Jersey Devils jersey on, screaming until he was hoarse.

He was very unhappy last year.

GO FLYERS!!!! :D

Settle down, Beavis. I'm originally from Philly. So, even though I am not a sports fan, it was my sworn duty to root for the Flyers when they played against the Devs for the Cup.

There.

does that make you feel better? :p :D

Jeez, you are from Philly, aren't you? :p

Hey Bark, are you going to the Open House?

I'm going, and so is my husband. He'll be wearing his Jersey Devils jersey.

I, however, will be wearing non-sports apparel. :)

Hehehe....I understand your pain....especially that 2000 Cup.(oops)

Seriously, NJ looks to be a bit in trouble this year, while Philly has made some frightening moves (Hatcher and Forsberg?!) They are sheer talent on paper, the only question mark is in goal. Esche should get the nod....he's solid enough.

I still hope thay choke but I'm a realist...... ;)

I did. You said:

Although I'm kinda pissed I can't attend the open house due to the fact I'm going on vacation Oct. 2-8 to Florida, I did get some good news that this weekend while you all are having fun, my original band is opening for Tim "Ripper" Owens' band Beyond Fear & Chris Caffery's Faces.
For those not familiar with those folks, Ripper was Rob Halford's replacement in Judas Priest for a while & the movie "Rockstar" was loosely based on that. Chris Caffery is the guitarist in the bands Savatage & Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
It should be a fun show. Hopefully the Open House will be a yearly thing & I can attend it then.
It would be cool if someone could document some of the goings on this weekend on video or something for us un-attendees.
_____________

Wow, that is great about your band! You will have to give us a full report on the gig.
