Sorry for the blurry cell pic, but do you think if I bought this bass from GC, that BP would fix her up like new? I mean this bass is being sold as new, but at a discount, but I just can't get past the huge gash.

No. The factory is designed to build and finish and so on - but not refinish. Bang GC hard on the discount and rock that monkey! I would.

I doubt it, since it's shop damage. I'd offer them 10% below their cost and touch it up myself or leave it.

Pat Wilkins does amazing refinish work for a lot less than $400. I would lowball them for that damage, and either not worry about the damage, or I'd get the Classic 5 Stingray in a custom color for less than any other Classic 5 string.

Sometimes stuff happens.

It depends on how much this bothers you. If you are the type of person that will look at the ding every time you pick up the bass, then you shouldn't get it. But, if you don't mind touching it up with something (i.e., nail polish), then go for it and try to get a good deal.

Why invest in the refinish? Take the savings or buy a new one.

To have a bass in a color that isn't available anywhere else? Musicman does great finishes, but it's not like they hve magic paint. I love my daphne blue Bongo, and Musicman doesn't offer anything close to it.

We can't all be Jack and get it from the factory. :D. So, buying a bass like this super cheap is one way to do it. If I hadn't already gone gear crazy in the last month, I'd be figuring out how to get the Classic 5 myself.
