So I sold my Luke 3 HH in Olive Green to a guy overseas to pay for medical bills(having twins is nutty). The buyer emailed me these pics yesterday and told me that the guitar slipped from the straps he had attached to it.... resulting in the attached pics. He wasn't looking for anything from me except for advice on who to take it to and to share in his heartbreak.

My heart sank when I saw those pics. It's such a fabulous playing, sounding and (previously) looking guitar. What a shame.

That's more than a battlescar or "mojo".

I've had guitars in the past get dinged and dented and never felt too badly about it. I'm so careful with my balls that if anything happens I'm sick for a week about it. Fortunately no major accidents. And ouch is indeed the correct response

Damn that looks like a complete refinish or a replacement, not cheap either way. I have 1 guitar with a major dent, wasn't anything I did, it happened from the guy before me. It's always annoyed me, but I love the guitar too much to want to get anything done about it. I see it as a battle wound, I'd sure it would affect resale, but such is life.

That's not paint scratch or chip. That's the spot where the body is 3/32" or 1/8" or whatever thick because the electronics cavity is right there. That was dropped face down on the knob and the knob pushed it and cracked the wood. If you open up the electronics cavity you will see the same crack on the inside. OUCH.

Oh man - I think you're right!

OK, more than a flesh wound... this would take major surgery to correct.

Get thee to a (guitar) doctor!!!
