I'll give you a comment on the price .....

For starters, the street price of a new Stingray downunder is well under AUD$3000 (his BIN is $3600). Secondly, you can import a used Stingray from the US for around 1/3 of his BIN.

the bass centre will sell a brand new one for around $2600. they have a couple of used ones for around $1800.

basically, that is WAAAAYYYYY too much. you might want to consider importing a second hand ray, if you get it for under $1000, there are no duties/gst.

Who are you who are so wise in the ways of customs?

hehe, mild mannered student by day, savage bass playing inquisitive mind by night.

j/k.

before i bought my bongo locally, i was thinking of importing a second hand bass from the US. so i made some enquiries with a customs hotline regaurding importing goods.

problem was that very few sellers were willing to ship internationally, and very few of those very few sellers were selling bongos. wasn't that bad in the end, i paid $AUD2800 brand new for my bongo, which is about $US2100. it sound like a lot to the americans, but that's a bargain by australian pricing standards.

An advantage of being a Forumite. Plenty of shipping options. I've bought basses on ebay in the US from sellers who wouldn't ship overseas, and found a kind forum member to be the middle man. I've also bought a bass on ebay Australia to ship to a Pitter in Europe, because the seller wouldn't ship overseas. That's what family does.
