I've been saving, yes saving lol, money to send my guitar in to MM for repairs. Twice I've thought I could do this and found out it didn't work... The first time cost me a bit. Jon said that warranty would cover my preamp problem and my Low B saddle hitting my trem post problem even though the guitar was over a year old... I lost my job the next day and had trouble paying 30 bucks for anything, much less shipping... The second time I wasn't so lucky... The woes of deciding to go to college at 29, and a landlord charching some funky fee and trying to take me to court... I couldn't ship it then either. I might still be on the books for that RA number still, but I doubt it...
Anywhoo... I'm finally (I certainly hope) financially able to get this thing shipped out, and now pay for repairs. Since then, a few things have come up. There is now a new pickup (I've always preferred my Steve' Special on my Ibanez JPM) and I wonder if it will be more for me. There is also the new nut. I have no idea if it's SO for me that I need to spend money having it put on.
Also, my guitar stand decided to break on me one day at rehearsal, and my guitar fell face down onto my pedal board. Fortunately it fell on the rubber padding on the volume pedal... but, right where that rubber corner hit, there is now a crack in the paint under the clear coat. Wierdest thing. The clear coat is smooth, and the paint has a dent.
Does anyone think this will spread?
Since my preamp (I even wonder if my bridge pickup is messed up because it sounds a bit single coiley lately) needs replaced, both selectors need replaced, and I need the bridge looked at... this is going to be pretty expensive... but, I also don't want to have to ever send it back in because I decide I want to try the new nut or whatever.... I don't even know if they'll switch out the pickups for me anyway since the old bridge pickups are not even on the market other than in that guitar... but, I'd like to hear what people think anyway.
Sorry for the difficult read. My techno knowledge is too limited to be very eloquent I think. LOL
