I got my first Stingray in November last year and now I have two. They're the best basses I've ever owned and now I'm getting a bit addicted.
I've been looking for other second hand 'rays.
I live in Singapore and the humidity here is pretty brutal for musical instruments. I've seen a couple of second hand Stingrays online here with patches of paintwork missing, mostly around the bridge and the back of the neck. The patches are definitely not wear from playing.
I'm guessing that these issues are caused by moisture getting in under the paintwork somehow, but I don't know for sure.
I'd be interested in anyone's views about the causes of these patches of missing paint and also any thoughts on what they do to value and playability.
