I play punk/hard rock and I play pretty hard. I normally use Beefy Slinkys 11's. I've been using them for about 8 years and I've been pretty happy with them. I end up breaking them as they get older, but that's natural. The breakage on them is pretty normal for my style of playing. I can get a good 6 weeks of good performance from them before they start going downhill.
I decided to try the Paradigm for their supposed "unbreakable" durability. I play 11's and I slam the strings pretty good but nothing like how they do in the videos. I changed the strings on both guitars with Paradigm 11's. One guitar had a setup 5 days before. I use a V-pick Snake so the pick is really on the heavy, heavy side. I always bring 2 guitars with me in case I break a string. Well after the 3'rd song my D string broke. I changed guitars and the second to last song I broke 2 strings on the same song. What are the chances of that happening?
Unfortunately, I did not save the receipt for the 2 sets. How often does anybody save the receipt? I know what to expect from Slinkys because I've been using them for a while.
I have to rate the Paradigm strings an "F" for me. Breaking a string on my main guitar is one thing, but then breaking 2 strings on the same song with your backup guitar is totally unacceptable in my book and I always keep my guitars in good working order. I guess I'll go back to the Slinkys, they don't cost 15 bucks and they don't break right away.
Sorry Ernie Ball, Paradigm didn't work for me.
