Any of you noodle about with recording to PC?
If so what do you use?
Pod XT (line6 stuuf)
M-Audio
Boss

Just wondering on opinions etc.
Not talking about anything remotely pro. like, just fun.

Line 6

I use a the Line 6 Toneport UX1 audio interface which uses Gearbox software. It has a great selection of guitar and bass amps, pre amps, cabinets and effects, It is pretty easy to install and set up. The price is quite reasonable as well $170 CN. I also have a Edirol midi keyboard controller and an iMac G5 which uses Garage Band.

Here's a link to the Line 6 site for more info on the TonePort....

Happy recording....

Thanks Jessica
yeah, looked at the toneports. Thing is my laptop is not up to it speed wise :(
Looked at M-Audio Black Box too, Musicians Friend has it+footswitch on sale for $199 right now.
Maybe jam box or pod I guess.

Depends.

In our rehearsal space it's a small compact 1U PC with a M-Audio Delta 1010LT connected to the board, recording done with Cakewalk PA9.

At home I use either a Line6 GuitarPort straight into the PC or if I'm mic'ing it's a SM57 to M-Audio Audio Buddy to M-Audio Delta66. Recording done with Cakewalk Sonar 5 Studio.

I have and use a Line 6 Toneport UX2, Bass PODxt, and an M-Audio MicroTrack 24/96.

All three yield very nice results.

I just got the MicroTrack, and it's a pretty cool unit. About the size of an Ipod, yet it will record 2 channels at 24/96. I bought a 4GB microdrive for it, and it will record over 2 hours of wav format at 24/96 or over 29 hours in 320K MP3 format. Pretty amazing little unit.

i use the me-30 for a preamp
and for effects

all the editing and mixing i do on audacity

its very good
its easy to use

you can get very good sounding recording out of it provided you know what your doing and have somewhat good mics/guitars/gear etc...

Did you check out that Korg 4 track with the built in speakers? I watched a demo of it online and it looked and sounded pretty decent. Plus it takes tapes too!!!LOL I own a Korg PX4 wich is pretty good too you can do all the recording with the Recorder and it takes smart media cards that you can upload to your computer in MP2 format and from there I believe there are programs to convert to different types of sound files if you would want to convert to mp3's. If you are going to get into computer recording you are going to spend 200 to 500 dollars for a interface/soundcard then the recording programs aren't cheap either. I have recorded with a Line 6 PODXT Pro with ok tones but I wasn't totally happy with the tones I was getting. But if you are just goofing around you may love it.Line 6 just came out with a USB interface not too long ago based off the TonePort you might want to check out too that records right into the computer. I don't think its that expensive either It has effects and amp models built right in.Some people swear by Line 6 but I'm not one of em. There was just something too artificial sounding about the Line 6. But hey that's just my opnion.I have tried alot of gear and I still think in my opnion that the best way to get great guitar tones is to record dry with a mic in front of a speaker cab and split stereo right and left.

Hello

I use M-Audi JamLab. It works well, it's cheap (75 euros here in France) and it's reliable.
For recording, I use Ableton Live. It works well and it is easy to learn (the tutorials are great).
Hope it helps ...
