which is the better pedal & why? would you give up a FD2 in trade for a H20 + a jekyl & hyde? route 66?

This is not an exact answer to your question but thought I'd share.
I had FD2 and returned it after comparing it with Reverend Drivetrain 2.
Full Drive sounded little harsh compared to Reverend...but I guess that can be a good thing if that's what youre looking for. I kept a reverend because it was warmer and smoother.

FOr your info, Reverend is having a sale on their Visual Sound pedals. I just picked up a H2o.

I've had an FD2 of one sort or another on my pedal board since 1997 - I can't imagine a pedal that works better for me and what I do... I also had an H20 on my board for three or four years, but took it off recently because it just added too much noise to the signal chain (it's very position-dependant, and can generate stoopid amounts of noise if it's misplaced in your chain)... As for the FD2 vs. J&H, I don't much like the J&H, so my stance is pretty obvious, I guess... :)
