I did some thread searching, and I didn't find quite what I was looking for, thus the new thread. Apologies in advance if this discussion can be found elsewhere and I missed it.

Anyway...

I'm thinking of going back to a traditional pedalboard and amp head (Marshall JCM2000 or Mode 4, Peavey XXX or JSX, Soldano, etc.)

I wonder if you forumites might weigh in on some decent pedalboards. I definitely want one that has a lid/case, not a carrying bag, and I'd probably like one with a regulated power supply for pedals unless you guys think this should be bought separately.

The main pedals I'd try to work on there would be a volume pedal, crybaby wah, strobostomp, delay, distortion, and chorus. The effects would probably be single-pedal 9-volt units like Boss stompboxes. A two-tier board would be preferable.

Your input is now solicited...

SteveB,

I personally made my own (5/8 plywood, display material that you can use velcro on, power bar, etc), but I was on a tight budget and didn't need a roadworthy setup.

All this to say that before making the decision to DIY, I did a lot of looking around, and this was the best price/quality product I found, IMHO.

Reviews also seem good at Harmony Central.

Hope this helps.

jbert,

Thanks for hitting up this thread.. I thought nobody was going to touch it!

Those NYC pedalboards are very cool, and I just might end up buying one of them, thanks for the tip. My other idea is to build one from scratch, with an integrated 48-point unbalanced patchbay in the deepest part of the slope. I realize that 48 points are overkill, but they're easy to find and cheap, too.

I'm not all that handy with woodworking, but my father-in-law is a master carpenter. So if I can sketch it out, he can build it!

But the prices on those NYC boards are just too tempting. I probably couldn't build it much cheaper myself.. especially after medical expenses.. :D

Hey Steve,

I use a board from pedaltrain (www.pedaltrain.com - I think) and it suits me great. Doesn't have an on board power supply so I use a seperate one that I've attached to the board.

Check 'em out and see what you think. :D

Dodgeball,

Thanks for the post. I had been looking at Pedaltrain, PedalPad and the one made by Furman.

I'm glad to know that the Pedaltrain board has been good for you. That helps me narrow my choices.
