hey guys, in video 5 your see John playing with a very clean sound, is this the same kind of clean sound one would expect out of a Petrucci EBMM guitar? Sounds pretty nice to me, I've always steered clear of that guitar because i didnt think it sounded great clean without the piezo, maybe i'm wrong? he seems to be playing straight into the amp with no effects so it would seem to be a good indication of the guitars clean sound, if its the same pickups. Any thoughts??

The Vids are available for download direct from the EBMM website at the John Petrucci artist link.....

The middle position offers an excellent clean. I'd describe it as modern, clear, & no noise. Works great with a little chorus/delay. No drastic drop in volume.

That's odd......normally when I watch these little vids on YouTube, John's talking about how many people die whan he presses a button on his pedalboard, or how many billion notes a second he can play faster than everyone else?:D

The JP's have an excellent clean sound, wonder what made you think they wouldn't?

i guess i dont hear many people using it, just dorks on youtube with really crappy metal sounds trying to shred. nothing worse than a hack shredder with a bad sound. the few times i had heard the clean sound it was with gain, plus i did try the guitar once about 6 years ago, i was comparing it to an Albert, the AL won hands down for clean.

Ive never tried a Petrucci myself. Its sooo hard to find EBMM in shops here in the UK that you have to drive for hours and hours to find anywhere that stocks them. At least that is my experience. Only ever tried the Axis SS and the Luke, I decided on the Luke

I think the JP model is barely four years old. ;)

And a clean sound "with gain" isn't a clean sound is it? :D

For the record, it has a great clean tone, best of any of my solid bodies. But if you want more of a variety of Strat-type clean tones, the Albert is probably better for that.

Hi Tolerate

Fine town Guildford. Not only was I born there, but I was in Andertons only yesterday!

If you do want to try a Petrucci the Oxford Guitar Gallery is the closest place that I know that has one at the moment (or at least did 2 weeks ago when I was in there).

6 string in Pearl Redbust I seem to remember. Worth a go. I'm buying my third at the moment.:D

I dunno, I think he's been around some goofy folks before BP.

Besides, you aren't that goofy. I mean, look at me? I look like I just came straight off of a COPS episode. :(
