Hello and welcome

You have several options : matching headstock, inlays ... and the piezo of course.
It explains the 1000 € ...

I don't think so .... I do not own a Petrucci
I am sure that in a few hours you will have a lot of answers from our US forumites ... but now it's a bit early in the US ;).
Some forumites own quite a lot of Pet (Ernier for instance)

But in any case, you will not be disappointed with a Music Man.

Other than the piezo, there are no functional or shape differences between the two. The one with the piezo has a matching headstock and the mystic dream color changing paint job. All of those options add up to a fairly significant increase in price.

As far as whether you need the piezo, it is a sweet addition and adds a huge range of additional tonal possibilities - especially when mixed with the mags. Most people love having it because it allows for acoustic options without changing guitars. It's really up to you.

You might want to ask if those pics are stock, or of the actual guitars. I noticed that neither one appears to have the D-Sonic pickup that has been shipping with the Petrucci for the last couple of years. Both the original and the D-Sonic pickups sound great (I have one of each), but there are some tonal differences.

You never know if Thomann uses pics of the real guitars. So you should ask if they have the actual Pickup-configuration (with D-Sonic) or if they are from the time with the old pickups.
But one way or the other, both are great for sure and there´s othing wrong with the cheaper. As mentioned the higher price of the other is because of the piezo, matching headstock and msytic dream finish.

As long as you do NOT buy an OLP you will get the real thing. The OLP will cost 300-400€. Oficcially it´s discontinued but you may find some dealers who have them still.

If you really want to buy it at Thomann and not 2nd hand I'd give them a call. They have some british employees there and if you speak english it should be no problem. You should be able get a better price. That's at least what you do if you show up personally and tell them about the prices you've seen elsewhere.
