Indeed they are direct mounted. Provides a better transfer and better tone.
You can shim the pups w/ washers to raise them. I just lowered the height of my trem like 1/8 of an inch on my MD.....instant sweet spot and it's almost as playable as the DG that Jon S hooked up for me.
