Hi guys,

I need to change the switch of my Axis and I'm not very much into the two humbuckers position. So I was interested to know if somebody ever put a Pet switch on one. I think the middle position would be interesting.

Sorry but no plans to do some drilling or getting a S or SS (if that's your advice) :D

Thanks a bunch!!

single coil sound on neck position, single coil sound on bridge postion and intermediate strat sound in the middle position of the switch

hope this helps

Yep, that looks about right. You can buy the switch from Dimarzio or you can probably buy one from MM directly.

Larry- the coil split is an easy mod to do- there are lots of good diagrams on the web. Hit me up if you can't find anything and I'll make one.

From what I've read around, the push/pull mod with ony a knob can only split one of the coils. It'd be awesome if you could say me how you installed yours. Thanks!!

And also thumns up for the EB customer service. Awesome quick response through email!!

What a coil split does is ground one of the wires (the point where the end of the first coil feeds into the start of the second coil) so that you effectively have only one coil.

Most push-pull pots are "double pole double throw", or "DPDT". With them you can switch two different signal paths two different ways, depending on the switch position. So you can ground this point on both humbuckers and turn them into split coils with one push-pull pot, no problem.

Ernie Ball customer service sells the switch (you may be able to get the circuit board, too) that you need.
1-866-823-2255

The circuit board is labeled "Neck W-B-G-R-S" and "Bridge W-B-G-R-S" (I think those are the colors, I don't have a JP apart at the moment to check)

It's virtually idiot proof if the switch is installed into the board the correct way

EDIT: I found a pic of the circuit board

Thanks Pete. The guys at Customer Service told me to keep using an Axis switch and I will install a push/pull pot instead.

Now the dilemma is inner or outer coils
