Hi all!

I recently bought an Axis Super Sport with MM90's and piezo. The sound is absolutely amazing and I'm totally in love with guitar, the neck, ...

Now I' ve found a second-hand JP6 in Belgium (where I live): fully loaded, with piezo, matching headstock and inlay and I'm seriously considering buying it!

The seller wants 2.250 euro's for it, which is about 2.750 dollars I think... What do you guys think?? Maybe I should just buy a new one or is this a good price for a used instrument??

You can find pictures of the guitar here: http://muziek.2dehands.be/markt/muz...-petrucci.html?q=petrucci&ses=KuUYvlKkzIRHEjw

Oh yeah, serial number is 021139, so if maybe the mod's could find a DOB of this one, that would be very helpful!! ;)

Thanks a lot!!

TwAn.

I love mine. The neck is very different from an Axis, which may or may not work for you. It took me some getting used to, especially for certain jazz chords that use all four fingers.

Based on the guitar alone - if it fit's you, buy it. However I don't know a thing about the European Guitar market and its pricing. In the US, I paid signifigantly less for a new one.

I think you can find a better deal on a Pet than 2,250 Euros. Too expensive in my opinnion.

Thanks for the reactions!

I've been looking around and found out it's indeed a bit overpriced... Problem is, the JP's (aswell as any ErnieBall guitar) are very rare in these regions (Belgium), second hand, aswell as new...

Hardly no dealer in a 100 mile radius has MusicMan guitars in stock... I know of course that when I buy a MusicMan guitar, the quality won't be a problem, but I like to feel an instrument before actually buying it...

Anyway, I think I'll just let this one go (or I'll place a maximum bid and let the seller decide) and maybe order a new one...

Thanks to y'all!

Well remember that, at one time and in my situation, you were not allowed to try out a women, until you married :D
You judged them on their looks, their families and what not, so like the Petrucci, you must make the committment my son :D

Twan, where exactly in Belgium are you from? I do happen to know a very good store to buy MusicMans, although you will have to buy without playing them (as will be the case in every single store over here since they don't have MusicMan guitars, only basses).

On the other hand: fully loaded Petrucci retail price is 2492 €, if it has a special color option (burst), retail is 2572 €. With vintage sunburs, retail is 2596 € and if it is a mystic dream, than retail would be 2996 €. So, 2250 € is a lot for a second hand. It would only be a bit defendable if it's a mystic dream Pet.

Sorry for the pricing, but I thought it was only forbidden to post the US pricing. If I'm wrong, just correct me. On the other hand Twan, if you want to know the retail price in Belgium, go to www.voerman.nl, go to pricelists for Belgium and take the MusicMan pricelist. After adding up all the different options, just take off 20% of the price, and that should be the price you get from a dealer (if they ask more, than they are not playing it fair; if they ask less, they know you well...).

Gr, Tom.

I'm terribly sorry, EightmanVT... Didn't know... :( Please forgive me...

@ Raz: I'm not married yet, still judging and trying... But, like the Petrucci, I'll find the right one, some day!! :D

@Tokkes: I'm from Mol (Provincie Antwerpen). Where's that store at??

Most stores I've been to, the salespeople start looking at me like I'm crazy if I ask them if it's possible to order a MusicMan guitar... "Why not buy a guitar that's in our store right now?? Look at these lovely shiny guitars, why don't you try this one??"

"Mmmm... 'cause they're all 200 dollars pieces of sh*t hangin' on your wall... "(pardon my language) ;)

well i have an ASS MM90 w/ peize and an JP6 (not loaded) ... and they're totally different guitars and im glad i have both. They feel different, sound different - but its once kind of awesome vs. another kind fo awesome :) theyre both pretty f'in amazing.

to me it sounds like a price question more than a "do i want" or 'do i need". im one of those guys that will pay a bit more for the "luxury" of "having it now" (also known as GAS w/o patience) ... so if it was me, if i could afford it, id do it.

You'll love the Pet

depends on my mood. if im playing slayer or maiden esque tunes then the JP is awesome and the Axis SS is kinda awesome ... then if im in the Social Distortion, Green Day mood the Axis SS is awesome and the Pet is kinda awesome :)

But the surprise is ....
for clean blues ish stuff - its all about the Pet. I never woulda guessed that one.
seems like every EBMM guitar has some sort of "surprise" hidden in it. its great ...
