Just been playing my JPXi - my all time fav guitar and was just wondering what is the age profile of the player and what types if music do you okay on your Petrucci?

I'm 48 and although the JPXi is considered by some as a shredder I play the blues and classic rock on mine.

I'm 41 and for the last 10 years I've played in a couple cover bands. We played everything from Stevie Wonder to Tool and even some country. I'm very fortunate to have owned some very cool guitars but always came back to my JP's. Now that I'm done with my band when I sit home it's mainly jazz and prog.

I am pushing 59 - playing in a cover band doing primarily 80's stuff (Journey, Def Lep, Bon Jovi etc). Personally, my playing can cover many different genre's and era's. I have a 2009 standard JP6 and a 2010 JPX, however my #1 go-to gig guitar lately has been my L3 HH.....

Im 46 and play in a classic rock cover and an all original metal bandd. I'm selling the jp6 I just bought because I just cant get along with the controls positioning. Too many years of playing the Axis leaves me reching for the volume knob on the Petrucci

I am 26 years old and the JPX was my very first guitar. I attempt to cover Dream Theater songs as well as some Andy James material. I've been playing guitar for roughly 4 years now. I generally practice from home by myself. I recently have been having buddies come over and hear me play and play with me. Receiving positive feedback has boosted my confidence tremendously. Nothing is more frustrating than feeling like you'll never learn that one riff or nail that one solo. I'm still far from where I want to be in my abilities but, I feel with due time I may one day be content with myself.

Probably not though heh :p

This is great stuff guys... and really pleased to see some 'older' hacks using a JP... a little story. I went to a local blues jam with my JPXi and plugged into a mic'd fender champ clone. Before plugging in a few of the guys around my age sort of muttered shredder LOL

Afterwards I had three of those guys come up and ask to look more closely at my JPXi - all of them were seriously impressed with guitar - one even commented on how well it played for an Ibanez type guitar LOL

I play with some guys doing covers and the JP6 makes it over to rehearsal more times than any of my other guitars. It seems to cover the greatest variety of music the best. I play at home with all four of my JPs and tend to play heavy metal stuff on the 7s and 80s hair stuff and DT with the 6s. Having 11 now I tend to 'typecast' with my guitars. I mean, if I'm going to work on some EVH I definitely break out the Axis, if I'm working on country the ASS comes out, Eric Clapton gets the MM90 Al treatment, etc. I guess that's why I've bought so many and such a variety. If I have to use one guitar just about any one of them could get the job done but I wanted to be able to have guitars for specific purposes. I'm 29.

Hi My names Kevin and I'm an ... ... ...

oooops sorry - wrong place lol

I'm 58 years young still think like a 21 year old but with the advantage of years of life experience. ha!

My JP6 - if it wasn't for Fred Smith (Fsmith on forum) I would not have had this guitar.
He went through a few problems to ensure I got it (from the USA to Wales)

I'm like you Zw - not a shredder - play covers now and enjoy what the jp6 brings to the table, that my other 'balls don't.

My profile says I'm 107 but I'm actually quite a bit younger than that!

I use a standard model non-piezo JP6 with a rosewood neck swap for 95% of the songs I play. Music styles are mostly classic and modern rock, followed by country, metal, and blues.

im 21. expecting a jp7 pdn this week, although ive owned a jp6 prb and jp12 (both of which i wish i didnt sell).

i play all sorts of music; fusion, rock, metal, jazz, blues etc...
When i owned the JP's id play most genres on them, although i will say that my amazing suhr is what i play for fusion, funk, jazz, and for gigging (for the ridiculous versatility!).

jp6's have probably got my most favourite necks, just stunning :)

I am 35 and love the versatility that both of my JP guitars allow me. I own a JPX and a BFR baritone and have gone from playing straight acoustic gigs with the piezo to playing a metal show that same night. Only these guitars can make me feel comfortable enough to do this!

I'm 33, been playing for 15 years or so. I have a jpxi as well. I generally play prog, technical death metal, blues and classic rock. I feel that this guitar covers all of those quite well.

38 years now and i´m playing a lot of different styles on the JP6, but mainly heavy-rock and old school metal.
used to own a few different JPs in the last years, e.g. BFR6, 06 & 07 LEs, JP7 at the moment i have a DDII 6, a PRB Limited 6, JPX-7 and my first JP6 Mystic Dream....i prefer the first JP version due to the unfinished maple necks and the smaller body size.
the PRB Limited and the DDII have ebony boards, which makes the JP sound even better. i like that faster attack and the extra harmonics coming from the ebony board.

btw. the piezo on the JP models is awesome! run the piezo into a Fishman Aura pedal - best acoustic guitar sound for any kind of live-performance or even use it in the studio.
can´t imagine having a JP without the piezo.

37. JP6P has been my main guitar for gigs, rehearsals and practicing for a few years. I actually sold a couple of my older guitars not to be able to afford a JP, but because I just wasn't using them. I play rather hard'n'heavy'fast stuff, some not-too-technical prog, and occasionally wander into the Hendrix realm.

When I had my JP DDI it always led me to play dream theater style music on it.. As if it was made for that :p

But seriously it can handle anything, will have one someday again. 34 btw.
