If you've ever wondered what a JP might sound like with EMG pickups, here you go:

This is the LickLibrary Avenged Sevenfold DVD promotional video.

(Hehe, that's funny...a video to promote a video.)

Never thought much of Avenged Sevenfold, but after that, it is really quite obvious just how talented this "synyster gates" person is. It's cool to be able to play that, but to write it? Wow...Whether someone likes what he plays or not is a whole different story (I personally don't). However, I just gained a lot of respect for this band, despite the emo factor they seem to have and the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of the lead guitar work I've heard from them..Ridiculously talented but IMO missing something melodically...oh well

PS
That JP with EMGs in it sounds awesome. I would definitely hook one up if I had one as back up sort of thing.

I love the capo he's using, it looks like a hair scrunchy that my daughters wear, great idea!!!

It's actually not a capo at all but rather a scrunchie just like you mentioned. :D Andy uses it as a mute (just like a lot of shredders do) to keep everything nice and quiet and it helps for tapping licks which he uses frequently. Andy James is a KILLER player!

I don't care for his style, either. (That's not meant as criticism. He's got chops, for sure. It's just that musically, it's not my thing. To each his own. I'm sure, back in the 60s and 70s, there were people who didn't care for Jimmy Page, Steve Howe, or EVH.)

If the son is not your cup of tea, perhaps the father will be more to your liking:

Writing wise, I'm more impressed with Mark Tremonti than I am with A7x. He's doing stuff that's impressive mainly because he never learnt to play guitar the conventional way. I remember an interview where he mentioned He started using the guitar as a writing tool more than anything else, and didn't like playing the guitar to begin with or something like that. So this prompted a very unconventional approach to playing guitar. He plays the way he wants to sound rather than sound the way he can play.

He's definitely a clean player... Very nice. I've always loved those riffs.

Both videos are cool...

I don't think it says anything about EMGs though... It seems to me that the only way to compare pickups is to have two of them side by side in the same guitar through the same rig. Otherwise how do you know if what you are hearing is amp, fingers, album production, etc. etc. etc.?
