Dear members,

I´m going to the US in a few weeks, and my GAS for another Musicman is out of control.

I´ve been thinking a lot in which other guitar should I add to my collection, and my final battle is between the Axis Tribute and a Petrucci.

Considering that I´ll be there for Black Friday, I really want to play the guitar before I buy it, so the main criterion used now for choosing the guitar is that it must be available at any GC I´m going to.

For Black Friday I´ll be in FL, and I have found no Axis Tribute on the stores that are close to my hotel, but I found 2 Petruccis that seem very sweet...

One is the: Music Man Ball Family Reserve Quilt Top John Petrucci Island Burst
Other is the: Music Man John Petrucci JPX-6 Roasted Maple Neck Turquoise Pearl

They are a bit pricey, but I want to experience if BF´s offers are as good as they say...

So, anyway, any one of you have those guitars? If so, which are the differences between them? Which one would you prefer and why?

I already have a Y2D, and after playing a Musicman nothing feels the same way, so I´m eager to add another one to the family.

Thanks for your help and your knowledgeable input!

Contact the store ahead of time and see if they can have a Tribute brought in from another location. I had my Albert Lee brought up to the Northeast from Phoenix. Can't hurt to try.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

Between those two JP's I would take the JPX with Roasted neck. I prefer the 5way switch the maple neck and ebony fret board.

I love my Petruccis. Honestly i'd go for a Petrucci over an Axis, I mean Axis are fine guitars so it still is your call. Out of those two Petruccis, pick which one feels the best. I absolutely love JPXes but I hate 5 way switches. If I ever manage to get one I will definitely rewire it and install a 3way :)
