Hey Forumers,
Have any of you been on the Dimarzio website lately?I just went there to read about this drop sonic pickup Petrucci is using now and I swear I had to do a double take. Is it just me or is he the spitting image of Dave Navarro?LOL I thought that's who it was for a second.Too bad Dave Navarro can't play as well....

Yeah, they are really having a hissy fit about it at the Petrucci forums.

To be honest, l don't care how he dresses/has his hair, he can run circles around most guitarists.

Image is worth more to some than the actual talent of the artist. It's a shame. I could care less what he looks like. He was a really cool dude to talk to at the Open House and for him to be at the Open House on his anniversary weekend says alot. If you are mad about the hair.......get over it.....really......

Koogie,
I guess you didn't get the right idea of my thread. I think he looks pretty cool. As far as what someone looks like I could care less.My favorite guitar player is Alan Holdsworth and he is quite possibly the goofiest looking guy to pick up the guitar but man he is great! But I do think image is conntected with attitude and when you play heavy music we both know that attitude is important.Heavy music evokes a certain agressive attitude/feeling and if someone is up onstage looking like a lawyer or whatever I'm sorry but it makes me laugh. To give you an example look at Metallica the last album I really liked was the Black album then after that they all cut their hair and then Load and Reload came out? Those albums are horrible.Matter of fact every album they have put out since Load and ReLoad is crap.I read a thread somewhere that someone saw Dream Theater on tour and Petrucci and Portnoy were slimming down and getting into shape and growing their hair long again. My opninion is your music is what you are or feeling at the time you make it and if they are looking mean and getting back into shape man we are in for some amazing Dream Theater albums in the future.

Brett....sorry for the rant as it was not directed at you personally. I have seen where peeps were staight out po'd that JP did his hair with the highlights and what not. It got out of hand if you ask me. I mean, really....if he wants his hair to be hot pink, who am I to criticize.....

Attitude is good and all. Sure, "most" peeps associate a form of music to have a certain "image"....i.e....metal...black clothes, long hair. Grunge...flannels and singing with what appears to be marbles in the mouth. I find it hilarious myself to see certain bands do a "style" chnage like cutting the hair. I agree, Metallica looked like lawyers with the short hair. But, I saw them in concert and they still put on a great show. I do agree that Load and Reload were not their best work....but, I don't think the hair did it.....but then again, Sampson did lose his strength.....

See, what it all boils down to is this. I am completely bald and I am just jealous most "Rock Stars" have hair and I don't. ;)
