A few people have said they've had difficulty seeing the photos I had hosted on ofoto.com...

so I signed up with photobucket...

I just want to get an idea which more is more useful... can we have a quick poll as to which one people can see?

Thanks

Wonder why armybass sees both & the rest of us only see the second one?

I don't know... I can see the ofoto images on my computer at home but not at work (although I used to be able to). I suspect the reason to be that ofoto sucks. :)

I'll just use photobucket from now on.

Thanks for the compliments on the bass. It plays better than it looks :)

I strongly suggest that you contact your 1st photo host....give them a link to this thread.....and ask for a refund.

I've been putting up with my host now for three years. I'm a "platinum" member and the service is non existant. You can probably guess who I'm talking about. I'm waiting for the contract to run out and that's it with them.

Your second host seems to have a good reputation but in the long run, it's cheaper and more reliable to subscribe to a website. Same $$$s as a photo host unless you're doing something like my website which is just a little more.

I'm with "ecomplanet" and you can even talk to them via email. My current host has never replied to any email I've sent them concerning probs.

Photobucket is free

They're both free, at least to begin with. So I've got no real complaint.

The ofoto service started off okay, but I suspect they've been making it steadily worse to convince me to pay for the platinum service.

Eventually I'll subscribe to a website, I've been mulling over putting up some info about the history of Trace Elliot amps... I've chatted with a few people who worked at Trace over the years and have amassed enough to start off with... but finding the time (and money)... :)

For the time being, I'm happy to put the pics up on a free host while I work on my photography.

Most hosts and websites that offer a basic service are free. I don't particularly know about Photobucket but it's uaually the case that if you want more features and high res pics, then you start paying.

dlloyd...are you saying that image on Photobucket is free???

Yep, they're compressing my photos a bit (is that the correct term?) as I'm uploading them...

(that's the same image, with the correct orientation)... comes out at 170K or something, the original was 500K. There's not that much loss as the original wasn't particularly hi-res to begin with (taken with an old 1.3 megapixel camera). The other limitations are the bandwidth (I've only used 0.4% of my monthly allowance so far!) and album size (2% for three low res photos)
