I was going though an old box yesterday and found a myriad of old picks from over the years.

I'm predominantly using Tortex now.

Which got me interested in what others are using for your styles!

So, what's your pick gauge vs playing style ??

im working on playing mainly technical stuff, but i play a lot of blues and rock as well... i find the tortex picks too big and floppy... ive switched to dunlop jazz III's and they are amazing... I can't use anything but the dunlops now...

I use Dunlop Tortex .88 the green one's for electric, then when i'm playing my flat top or my mandolin i use Dunlop Ultex 1.14. I love the Ultex's, they give your acoustic instruments a real nice natural, bright, crisp sound.

I use the Jim Dunlop Stubby 3.0mm

People see my picks and freak out  They have absolutely no give to them, but are tapered and seem to glide right off of the string, and with these I can easily go from a heavily accented attack to legato... They just work very well for me, but not necessarily for everyone. I am a metalhead of course (Megadeth, Judas Priest, Metallica etc.), but I am also a huge Prince and Pink Floyd fan just to name a couple, so I vary a lot. I am also rather fond of transposing choir, string orchestra, and Maynard Fergusons trumpet parts to guitar.

I have about the weirdest musical tastes you will ever see ;) :D

Custom 1.0mm tortoise shell picks from Legend Picks with my signature on 'em.

My style? Rock...with some metal, prog, blues, flamenco, new age, and folk influences.

I use Jazz IIIs (red), or occasionally the Dunlop tortexes that are greeen and almost the same shape. I would use strubbies, but I use both my index and middle finger and the indentation is rather un-ergonomic for my (admittedly strange - I'm a lefty picking w/ my right hand) picking style.

I like Jazz III red (Its my favorite color didn't have to be a good reason right?:p ) Plus I think they are the same thickness/gauge regardless of color.

The plastic is a little different. The red is a bit softer and smoother. I like the harder, more abrasive black one.

7€nD€R Heavy, they are the most similar to the EB Heavy picks (shape). I´d love to use the EB picks but they are available nowhere here.
