Pick up pole piece

Greetings, I have noticed on pictures of some EBMM basses, that the pole pieces are flat. (not sure if this was from the angle of the picture) My SL-4's A and D string pole pieces are raised in relation to the E and G strings. I presume this is in line with the radius of the fretboard. I checked the faq and did not see any reference to this, are they adjustable?

Well I own both a 2000 StingRay5 single H and a Bongo HH and the poles on the Rays are raised in the middle following the fingerboard radius, while on the Bongo these are flat, but... it may well be because the Bongo pickups have these new fancy neodynium magnets which perhaps are powerful enough not to need to be radius matched, whereas Rays have come in both alnico and ceramic magnets depending on the year of manufacture.

I can't speak for the Sterling as I have never actually owned nor tried one.

But then again I have also noticed that the poles are flat als on the newest production Rays which have pickups similar in shape (with the wide thumbrest on them), to that of the Bongo's although I have read that the new Ray's pickups are infact fitted with alnico magnets as from year 2008 onwards.

The poles on the single H Stingray and Sterling models are raised on the center two strings and have been since they were introduced. The poles on all of the HH and HS models and the single H Bongos are all about the same height. They are not adjustable for height.
