Just so I could join this forum. (OK, that was just a side benefit.)

It's mine! All miiiine! Mu hu hahahaaaaa!
Actually, it's a beautiful bass and I'm totally in love with it.
It's a four string, HH, lava pearl with a white ice pickguard - exactly the color I wanted.

True story:
I played it and checked it all out on Wednesday. I wanted to sleep on the decision, and couldn't get back to pick it up until today. The salesman I dealt with (Guitar Center, Natick Mass.) was on vacation. So I walked in and said, "I was dealing with so-and-so to buy a Bongo. I'd like to get it."
The guy looks up from his very important magazine and says, "Talk to the guy in drums." And goes back to being bored.
I said, "Oh, OK." and started to walk away. Then I turned around and said, "Perhaps I should be more precise. I'd like to get the Bongo bass."
To be fair, the guy was a guitar player. ;-)

In the end, the sales guy at GC was very polite and very helpful. Great experience all around.
I've only played it for a few hours, but it's my first EB and I'm very happy with it.

ok just to tell you now, you better put some pics of it up here or your going to get barraged with posts saying "pics please" in various forms. these people are crazy about pictures. oh by the way, welcome to the forum. you should also check out the search function if you got any questions. there are a few people that are kinda touchy about that as well.

Congratulations and I LOVE the GC story. The guy in drums, heh heh.

Beautiful bass. Welcome aboard!

Jack

PS: I'm not touchy about the search function. I just sometimes remind people that it's there and it works.

Beautiful!

What kind of case is that?

It's just some Chinese tweed case. It doesn't fit perfectly, but it's the case that fit it best. The SKB didn't quite work, and the MM didn't fit. This'll do for now I guess.

For future reference, the MM case does work (for the Bongo 4) - it takes a little reshaping on the upper horn but then it fits like a glove. I tried the same tweed case for Kermit and it was a little loose in the body - but it looks great! Nice Bass!!! :D

I found out that with a tiny bit of reshaping (and I mean just a tiny bit around the upper horn) the 4 string Bongos fit great into a MM StingRay Case - that is where my green Bonger now resides;)
The Bongo's horn is just too big for modern day conveniences.
+1 :D

Nice Bongo, and welcome to the forum. You have been redeemed by posting pics of your second "shorty".

Just to confirm:
We had our first band jam with the Bongo today. Everyone was very impressed with it. Huge bottom, tons of punch, and smoooooth.
What was originally supposed to be a backup bass has very quickly become the new number one.

I played it so much my forearms and hands are a little sore now. Which could indicate improper form and technique, but I haven't really put it down much in the past two days so I'm not concerned. ;)
