Hi,
I'm new to the forums here and not to sure how to search for threads and I have a question. I just picked up a used 1993 Stingray with a 2 band EQ with Rosewood fingerboard in Mary Kay White. It's a smoking bass for sure.... Would anybody know of the color pickguard that came stock on this bass. I know that there were only 5 of this configuration made in 93 and I want to get the right pickguard for it. Maybe it's already on it! It's a vintage white pearl guard that's on it now. Any help would be great! Thanking all in advance.

I have a 5-string of that Trans White and it came with a tortoise shell pickguard. There was a bit more of a red to it with larger yellow swirls from what you often see today.

I changed mine to black because the top layer was starting to shrink and becoming unglued, especially at the corners over the screws. I might go back to tort one day.

Here's a pic. of the 1993 - 3 band EQ Mary Kay with the Tort Guard. Very small picture but it's all I could find.

Black Pickguard it was my friend.

One thing to add: It might be difficult to get a the period correct satin matte black pickguard from EBMM. Maybe you have to resort to a third party producer.

Pulling a topic from its grave..

My SR5 Mary kay did come wiht the tort/yellow swirl plate as well. but also the top layer was getting loose. I decided to do something different, as I like the wood grain of the instrument so much and did find it a pity that it was hiding behind the huge pickguard.

In the future I might put back a big plate again, if the color difference between were the pick guard once was and the rest of the body won't get less. Think I will go then for matte black, if I can find one in europe..

Might hunt up some dressy button head trim screws
in black ... to match the knobs ... and plug the holes
with those. That way you symbolically represent the
traditional PG shape but you wouldn't hide the wood.

Might be an option indeed. Although I'm leaning towards getting a new PG.
Anyone a clue were to get an original replacement PG in Europe?

Clear Pickguards looks like this:

My vote is a black matte (if not available - from WD), black screws like the originals.
