Pickguard MM Morse

Been thinking about changing the pickguard on my Morse. It has a black pearloid one, of which I'm not a great fan. I've given it some time, but a swap is due. I'm considering plain black or tortoise shell. Any other suggestions?

I personally love the black pearl guard with the black. If you dont like it go all black, or another option would be abalone perhaps. That combo is pretty cool too. I HATE tortoise!!! Ugliest pickguard material ever, and the Morse should not be subjected to that .

If you are going to order from MM I would say Tort wins, but if you were going to get one custom from Chandler Pickguards I think Anodized gold goes really well with black and is also a bit more unusual as well.

The EBMM Tort (which, IMHO, are better than everyone else's) can look good on black, but I might go with plain black first. It's too bad the Abalone and Moonstone guards were discontinued, they were pretty nice. But I'd reluctantly go with black if they are the two options.

There are a lot of options out there if you dig deep in your net searches. I've seen some black marble and black smoke/pearl type materials that might be interesting. What about a real wooden pickguard? Rosewood to match the fingerboard? Brushed or anodized gold could indeed be sweet. Maybe aluminium or copper?

Many years ago, I was stuck in the same dilemma on what pickguard to use on my SM (Sunburst). I was leaning to the Black/Black pearloid. One of my friends recommended the white pearloid and the result was quite nice.

I do like the white. I wonder what some kind of grey would look like on a black body- might be cool.

There is some really cool stuff out there if you look around. I know of a place that does some great marbles, glitters, ...all sorts of stuff. They also do clear guards that they paint from the back...usually gold or silver.

I think silver would look great.

Some interesting suggestions! I actually did also consider white pearl before.

But to be honest, each time I consider something other than black, I think: that would be cool! But immediately after that my mind Goes back to the all black option.. So I guess I'll go with that.
