Hey all. New to the forums here and had a question. I tried looking for this using the search function and unless I missed something, I don't think I saw any postings on it. If it's been asked before, I apologize.

Anyhow, I'm thinking of picking up my first StingRay 5 and I'm looking at the HH model. The only thing I don't like about the newer StingRay's are the contour-ish pickguards verse the "classic" style "egg-shape" ones. Has anyone ever smoothly swapped the contour guard with a classic one? It seems like with all the guts underneath the guards it might make it a little difficult to do so. Not like I'm SUPER eager to start modding a $1800 bass but if I can do it painlessly I'm definitely interested.

Thanks in advance!

Trying to cover the SR5 preamp routing will not be painless.

You could also get a Sterling 5...
