Hello all!

This is my first post on this forum (I can´t believe I havent been here before).

To start off with, I have a simple question.

I have a 2002 EBMM John Petrucci guitar in Pearl redburst with matching head stock and Piezo. Great guitar!

But, I´ve never really loved the bridge pickup sound (not warm enough and sounds a bit "sharp" when playing leads) so I´m thinking of changing the bridge pickup to the D-Sonic (like JP has) and I was just wondering if there will be any problem changing it. I´ve heard something about the stock pickups beeing smaller or something?

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

The pickups are the same size. Theres no problem changing it with a competent luthier. What i read from Dimarzio.com is that the pole facing the fretboard is for normal tunings. Facing the bridge is for low tunings. Hope it helps

I'd like to know if changing to the D-Sonic will stop you getting the coil tap from the humbuckers with the pickup selector in the mid position?

No, not if it´s connected right. The D-sonic is splittable too. It might sound a bit different, but It will work the same.

I have just ordered the D-sonic. I will post again when it´s been installed to give my opinion.
