I found out from AJ that my Axis Sport is loaded with unknown humbuckers. In its previous life, it had MM90's on board. I'd either like to put MM90's back in it, or get a set of MM Axis humbuckers.

I want to change up the pickups, and barring getting MM replacements, I'm looking for recommendations on good pickup combos. I'm interested in humbuckers, but I'm not against MM/P 90's. I've never used them before and have no idea what they sound like.

I'm a fan of the Dimarzio Tone Zone - Air Norton combo, but I'm interested to hear what other ideas might be out there.

If my musical styles have anything to do with it, I'm a hard/classical/modern/alternative rock type of player.

Go Humbucker From Hell in the neck. It just rules if you want a single coil sound with tons of balls. That and a Tone Zone would really be the ultimate (that is, if a EVH bridge isn't available.)

Hey, wait a minute!?!? Do the MM90s and the humbuckers have the exact same size route?!!?!?

If that is so, can I order a set of the MM90s for one of my ASS HH's to try out?

I have a feeling that this one has been routed out a little. I don't think the pickup routings are the same for MM 90-s and hb's.

I might contact CS and see if a new set of Axis pickups could be obtained.
