Question pickup height adjustement on Axii. Tricks?

I've realized the Nailbomb on my Axis SS is a bit wimpy. Turns it it's about 4mm from the strings. Off to the screwdriver.

... but behold! There be no adjustments possible. Screws just screw-off and that's it.
Do NOT ask me how come I didn't realize years earlier... I had changed pickups in this guitar before but I guess I just never got around to setting her up properly

So how did you guys do it? Foam below pickup? Install inserts and add springs under the pickup screws? I'll be honest I've not even checked whether the pickup tabs have their holes filed or with the screw grooves...

Traditionally, direct mount pickups have a foam block under them.

Some dont like the peavey wolfgangs, they are set to Evh's specs.

I would put shims under the pickups to raise them, and to lower them shim the neck. I find the settings to be pretty much the 'sweet spot' on the whole.

I love the feel of the guitar as it is; I'm really not planning to shim it.
I must have some foam around but it's not the very strong kind. I'll see if I find some spare single coil plastic tubings used on Strats... would add some push upwards

Also ordered a Bareknuckle Crawler and a Juggernaut to try with it... The Crawler is the loudest, biggest pickup I have ever heard, and the Juggernaut seems to have been designed with Basswood/Maple guitars in mind.
