Guys i have trouble with pickups from Ibanez ProLine 1770.
Some guy that sold me the guitar ripped the pickups so that the wires on the singles look like this.
There are 2 wires from singles (red-white) and one is the jacket like in coaxial cables.
Now i can save red and white wires they stick out like 1/3" but what with the jacket. What's it purpose just to shield from radio interferences i mean the question is: Does that jacket go into the pickup and connect to something because its totaly ripped, or i don't need that naked wire(jacket).
Please help :( make my day

Do you have a picture or the wiring?

Sorry no.
But i don't know does the jacket wire go into the pickup or what?
Because i cant see if it does. I mean i think that it does not enter the pickup i can see only red and white wire sticking from the pickup.

I'm not sure what you're describing, so I can't really help you. Most pickup wires are unshielded (just single wires from the pickup) but it's possible one is shielded. Not usually a problem if the shielding comes loose as the pickup would have a separate ground.

If it were me I'd just wire it up and see if it works. If you have concerns, take it to a tech or find out which pickups those are and contact the manufacturer directly. They should be able to help you out.

My friend told me that the jacket goes to the pickup shield and i think hes right because something is missing from the bottom of the pickup and i think that the metal plat is missing.)

PRC - beej has the "power" to help you here - he's our resident electronics expert.:)
Borrow a camera and take a photo? maybe even a cell phone photo may have enough detail?

I don't know if this thread will remain though cos it's not ball related!!!

Ok , first of all try the Ibanez forum, they can help you without a pic, I´m sure.

The blank wire is the shield, to the ground(back of a pot) with it.
The red wire should be the hot output of the PUP
The white one should be the Coil Tap for single coil switching.

But as I said Ibanez can help you, for sure.
Good luck

You should connect the bare wire to the grounding.

Jesi ti možda PRC s glazbenog foruma? (pretpostavljam po nicku i avataru)
Ako si iz Zg mogu ti ja to riješit :)

For everyone else reading these two lines above. I believe that PRC is from Croatia (there's a guy on a Croatian music forum with the exact same nickname and avatar), so those funny words are Croatian :)

Heh skinija si me,)
I know that the bare wire is ground, but the point is that same wire connects to nothing! on the pickup. Now you should get the picture. Only red and white stick out from the pup and the bare is hanging in the air. But the pickups seem to miss something from the bottom i think that some kind of plate was there. Probably the whole thing is shielded because its sealed in plastic like EMG.
