Hey All,
Just got my morse sig model yesterday. Can't put it down! I'd like your thoughts on the differences in choosing the slanted single coil alone with the 3-way toggle versus choosing the other single coil alone with the blade switch. Very subtle difference here and I haven't played with it enough to truly figure it out in my own mind but would like your opinions too.
Happy switching!
Thanks.

Hey- congrats!

Personally I don't use the slanted all that often, just occasionally with the other single together for quacky sounds. The bridge single I use all the time- in combination with the bridge bucker it sounds fantastic for rhythm sounds, then kick over to the bridge on it's own for heavier stuff.

But where are the pics of your new guitar ????

I use the slanted in several configurations :

  • alone, when I play with high gain. It's very useful if in song that you play with the bridge single coil or humbucker, you need to decrease your volume and gain
  • with the bridge single coil for funky sounds
  • with the 2 humbuckers for clean sounds. The single coil adds some clarity
Experiment ... there are a lot of amazing sounds you can find with the Morse !

I play it not so often.
Mostly alone if I ´m looking for a thin clean sound. I like the sound which is a bit weird.
It can be - as said - produce some quacky sound in combination with the bridge single. But for quacky strat sounds I use the AL... so naturally i use the Morse for Humbucker sounds in general...
But indeed, it´s great if you need to have to play a song with different gain levels !

i use it whenever i'm after a Hendrix/srv kinda thing.
i also use it quite alot mixed w/ the bridge hummer to tame it down when needed.
it makes simple work of switching from a super lead tone to a quiet rhythm tone. i keep it lowered quite a bit to increase the dynamics of the guitar. a bit different then most configurations for sure....

I see the Morse as a double-humbucker guitar first and foremost. That being said I use the Tele-like bridge singlecoil quite often, the slanted one is not needed anymore. I used to switch it in when the guitar was still new to me (and I was coming from a Strat background) but for me the T-style singlecoil just does it. It has just the right amount of quack without being too brittle and makes for great semi-clean tones. If I want a Stratsound I use a Strat and adjust my amps accordingly. Just my personal preference.

But anyways, Morse models are great guitars.
