Hi,

I know that the pickups in a silouette are Paf Pros, but what's the bridge pickup in a Sil Special? It's a custom Dimarzio, and have heard it's close to an air Zone. Is this right?

Thanks,

Al

It's jes called 'custom wound'. It sounds as weak as a stock strat, but with less character. Axis pups need to be avialible on all models, Ernie Ball, would this change really cost you anything?

The pickups in our guitars are designed for that particular model, based on the type of wood used, how the pickups are mounted, etc.

The Silo Special has 2 different pickups available for the bridge. The single coil and the humbucker are custom Dimarzios. They are not based on any specific model.

Thanks,
Greg

thanks Greg. Oops, i goofed. I was told by dimarzio that the Sil Special's bridge humbucker is close to an Air Classic, not AZ.

I wish I never sold that guitar. It had a nice smooth Satriani sound to it. It was my "comfy" guitar. BooHoo, I'm gonna cry now.

I have a Sil. Special and i think the pickups sound great. Its output isnt like a ToneZone, but then again i don't think it was ment for that. Its a good strat sounding guitar with a humbucker in the bridge. I play it thru a Laney VH100R and a Triaxis and i get all the balls i need if i want it.

I agree, I just got an HSS Sil. Special and I LOVE the pickups. I figured I'd be swapping them but they're staying put!
