The JP7's headstock is beefy just like the neck. (and just like JP these days!)

I'll have to get used to that fat neck when mine comes in! Any problems adjusting when yours came in?

I've had a 7 string before this one so I'm used to it. The hardest thing to get used it going for the wrong strings, people generally use the lowest string as a reference when going for the 2nd or 3rd string, takes a bit of adjusting but it's not too much of a headache. Just be careful when reading 6 string tab :)

the neck isn't fat... it's wide. In fact... it's flat as a *ahem* board. LOL

Really though... it's really thin. I'd say it's easier for a guitar player to adjust to the 7th string than it probably is for a bass player to adjust the first time he or she plays a 5 or 6 string bass.

Now, if I don't need the 7th string... I play a 6 string.. I use my thumb some, and the way the necks feel different inspires different things... so at times, the wider 7 neck will literally help you think differently and vice versa. I find it a similar effect to how if I play a hollow body jazz box, it literally makes me play differently because I immediately find the nostalgia of the sounds and images that such a guitar creates effects my playing. If you stick a Les Paul in my hands, I'm likely to be doing my best Slash impersonation in my playing in a matter of seconds without even realizing it. lol

Very true. I guess i perceive the wideness as fatness...

Yeah, that's the feeling I got when I played the JP7 at my local music store. It keeps my mind from thinking of the same old 6 string mentality and opens new doors for creativity. It's almost like a cure for a creative block.

I never realized how much I used the E string to find the 2nd and 3rd strings until I played the 7 string at the store! That 7th string kind of throws me off for sure, but I think it will make me a better player. I can't rely so much on what i'm used to...
