Now the question.... What would be the best way to preserve the signatures on the guitar, while being able to play it. I'm concidering painting a protective clear coat, but I'd need to know a type that would work well without messing up the signatures or the clear coat on the Petrucci itself, any suggestions?? PLEASE

Well I'm sorry for posting this without seeing that topic, I did a search and a few came up but nothing with a really good answer. Did you try the Clear Contact Paper idea? How'd it work?

Since I can't exactly mute any wood grain on mine, being a non BFR...., the Deft brand lacquor idea also seemed very ideal, but really I guess I'd like to hear from someone whos done it to their guitar already, and has had good results.

Edit.... These are also signed by a paint marker... if that changes anything, I saw one person before say that was the best thing to use and they showed a pic of it lasting for quiet some time, so I used that, but just for protection, I'd prefer to OVER protect them.

It was easy to miss...it was buried on the 2nd or 3rd page in. I haven't done the contact paper. yet...I haven't had the time to pick some up, and for the time being the #1 caranuba seems to be holding up very well.

The only think that might be hard for you with the contact paper is how you would get it to contour to the deep forearm cutout on the jp's.

I love Dream Theater and JP, but I would not have them all sign my guitar like that! JP could sign it on the backplate, but that's about all...

I had them all sign on the backplate of my BFR. It was pretty freaking crowded on that thing.

JP asked, "What guitar could this be from?" :D

Ya I went up with the guitar to get the pic, and Petrucci reached out and goes... "Hey... that's my guitar!"
