The SSS Specials seem in the minority. I think they deserve more consideration as an option.

Agreed. I grew up a Strat lover; while the Albert Lee receives a lot of (admittedly well deserved) accolades as the "Stratty" EBMM, I prefer the Silo Special.

Here's how I look at it - if you love the early 50s ash-bodied maple neck Strats, go for the Albert Lee (plus it will give you some Tele flavor); if you love 60s alder-bodied Strats (with either rosewood or maple), go with the Silo Special.

Just my opinion, YMMV (but they're all good ;))
