Gav, you know Mark too? His fretless is pictured on my little site at http://vintagebass.cjb.net

I really love the look of those old, old Rays with the white pickup like you posted; I think just b/c I see them so rarely. I wonder how many of those were made?

I'm gonna go take some pics of my basses including the new Ray I just received off the truck today...well new to me!!!
I'll be back to post 'em up.

Gav...you're basses are two of the most beautiful Rays I've ever seen.

Yep....I think he's in Melbourne...or Adelaide.

>>>>I wonder how many of those were made?

Going by the Serials....around 2,100 'Rays were made in 1976. Total number of Pre-EB 'Rays is about 26,000. Heck of a lot of Bass players out there!

(I've earmarked your web site).

Very nice indeed!!!

Love the neck on the newy.

I'll take the Blue one thanks......:D

P.S. Just noticed that the Dillion has a bullet truss nut in the headstock. Does it have a slot at the front like the conventional Pre-EB truss nut or is the slot on the side like this pic?

It appears to be a non-original nut and have been trying to work out where it came from.

was just remembering an Aussie band that I really dug back in the day, Skunkhour... have you ever heard of them?? and what's become of them??
as to the actual thread here... I'm pretty lame and have no photo of my SR5 yet... but if you go to the MM site and plunk in : SR5 / rosewood / shell / natural into the 'build an instrument' section you'll get to see my one and only (so far!!!!!)

ciao!

Nope....never heard of them....sure they're Aussie?

yep, it was in '93-'94 that I first heard them, a real funky Jamiroquai/Chili Peppers/.... type of band, I think they were based out of Sydney. Is there any way to check Triple J's playlist archives? I'm sure they would have playe them.

anywho.....

I remember Skunkhour, I saw them support a cool UK band called Mother Earth back in the mid 90's in Manchester, England. I think they were signed to the UK label Acid Jazz!
Good band, I remember the bass player had a black MM 'cos the bass player out of Mother Earth gave it a go during their set and the band kept mentioning it through the set, strange how you remember small, irrelivant details init?

Photos of my MM anniversary duo to follow :D

in the front of the bullet...hex wrench kinda thing. Not the type with the hole all the way through like your pic.

I'll post pictures of my bass (and what a beauty she is!) when I get them developed. As a treat, I'll post pics of that '79 SR with the 2 Jazz pups I was telling you about. I warn you though, her body has been altered slightly. Let's just say that a fill was inolved, and leave it at that...
