Has anyone played a Sterling or a Stingray with the new Piezo bridge yet? Dallas hasn't received any yet and I'm really curious how much different the sound is.

It basically cuts the mids and boosts the bass. It is excellent for accoustic gigs, and when I need to cut the bite of my SR5 I can just roll the piezo up.

My only qualm is that it does have quite a bit of string noise so if you are a loud player (eg you let the strings ring off the frets a lot) then I wouldn't recommend it because it will come through a lot clearer.

The piezo can be fun if you're using flatwounds (such as TI) and as was mentioned, need to take even more bite out of your tone.

They in no way approach or imitate the sound of an acoustic and/or double bass. They do add a little "air" to your tone.

Being sort of a rock and roll slash blues slash beatles influenced pop player, I found the ones on my SR5 rather useless.

Thanks for the input guys. Bovinehost, is the sound of the Bongo really "Phat"? I'm looking for another Ernie Ball but would like to have something other than a Stingray. I already have a Sterling. I don't think they offer the Piezo bridge for the Bongo either, do they?
