Today I procured a new (to me) acoustic amp for my JP's piezo and I'm now in piezo heaven.

I had been running an Ultrasound AG-30, which was alright, but tended to distort and fart out at anything approaching reasonable volume, and just generally wasn't particularly awesome sounding. My piezo sounds were never impressing me, and I knew (based on samples I've heard here) that they should have been. Today, all that changed- I took my Ultrasound and some misc. unused pedals to my favorite used gear shop and walked out the proud owner of a pre-DSP Fender Acoustasonic Jr (they had a DSP model also, and it was significantly worse, yet more expensive  ).

Now I can't stop playing my JP through it- it's exactly the piezo sound I always wanted, and with the chorus and reverb I can get some really haunted, spooky "right before the heavy guitars kick in in a metal song" kind of tones. Makes me love my JP even more, I think it's slowly becoming my new No. 1 (which is sad in a way, because my Silo Special has been with me for so long).

Anyway, sorry for the long, mildly off topic post- I'm just so jazzed about my piezo tones right now.

(PS- I brought my JP along to try the amp out and the store's owner gave me some MM stickers he had laying around, probably destined for the trash. Not sure what I'll do with them, but they're nifty:

Cool! Love the piezo a lot, but I took the route of just using a DI box.

I've been toying with the idea of getting some acoustic effects. Something like a Boss AD-3 or something simple like that.

I have to say that the piezo on my JP6 and on my AL sound awesome through a dedicated amp.

Nice one!

I would love to be able to use a dedicated amp for the piezo. Wonder if they make something in a single space rackmount...

If not, who wants to help me design one?

Some of your AER clips (the one you posted showing the use of the volume pedal as a pan in particular) were part of convincing me to ditch the old acoustic amp and trade up. Granted the Fender is still middle of the road at best, but certainly miles better than where I came from

The AER is awesome - but it doesn't have the headroom when I use it in a band situation - next time I'll DI it.

I ought to do a proper AER demo because that clip was done on a crappy digi camera.

I'm sure Beej could help ;) - the downside is that a lot of the sound generated by an amp like the AER is the speaker config - but that idea of yours sounds great.

I hadn't considered the speaker config. Shows you what I know about acoustic amps. I'm more of a high-gain kinda guy.
