I have an Axis SS RW (vintage trem). Can the piezo option be added to it?
And I don't mean an aftermarket one like Graphtech or Baggs. I'm talking about the "real" MM piezo system.

Thanks!

I am sure the answer is no. The guitar stays the same as it left the factory.

I have a Autumn Redrise Pet with piezo and natural headstock, no inlays. I asked about two years ago if I could get a new neck with matching headstock and inlays, and EBMM said it was a no go.

Aftermarket piezos

Dan -

(I'm new to the EBMM boards...so just a quiet remark from the back of the bleachers...)

I understand that you said you only wanted the "real" MM piezo. That's cool. Just IMO, but if you haven't already done so and you like the axe, you might consider a 3rd-party upgrade before you swap. I recently installed a Ghost system with freakin' great results. With a little planning, my install ended up completely reversible, with mods that suited me (output for acoustic outputs is electrically separate from the tip output for upgraded Fralin Blues Special pups...I can mix outboard...so magnetics don't go thru the onboard preamp buffer). The piezo technology just keeps gettin better and better....

I have an Albert Lee -- not an Axis -- so I don't know how easy the install would be for the Axis' cavity geometry. But Lea Rawlings at GraphTech (guru of all things piezo) is a great guy and very responsive to questions and feedback.

(Rawlings: [email protected])

Anyway, good luck with your electric "acoustic" search.

Thanks. I've already installed a few GHOST systems in my guitars. In fact, my current piezo'ed guitar is a PRS Custom 24 with the GHOST. They do sound great, and I might consider putting one in the Axis. But for some reason, I'd like to get the original MM system in one guitar.
