I have owned both, and the piezo sounded better on the BFR's to my ears. I don't know if it was because of the Mahogany Tone Block or what, but my BFR piezo's sounded much more rich and full. Keep in mind too that the piezo controls on the back of the JP are a great way to tweak your piezo tone to your liking.

I can only second Phil on that. The piezo picks up the resonance of the woods, which are different (arguably better) on the BFR.

I recently purchased a JP6 with the piezo option and I was wondering about that. Are the piezo tone controls screw's that you adjust with a screwdriver to tweak the sound to your liking?

Yup you can use a philips screwdriver to adjust. I put a blob of snowpake on the screws so that I can always revert back to factory settings.

N.B. when using the Piezo/mono jack out, the mix pot on the preamp will control the maximum level of the piezo. When the mag/stereo jack out is used, the mix pot is disabled.

Thanks gents.

I appreciate the advice too. I am truly amazed by the tonal capabilities of the JP EBMM's. They're just kick ass guitars.

Another question. How much range do the piezo tone screws give you? Is there really that much difference in the tone when you adjust the screws? I guess I could find out for myself but I thought I would ask.

BFR piezo sounds better to *my* ears, but that doesn't mean you won't like the standard JP better. What Phil said is pretty much spot on.
