ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.
Seriously..this was the first real Ernie Ball Music Man I've played, and I was absolutely blown away. Wow...ernie ball music man...wow...I swear thats one of the best playing guitars I've ever touched. I'm dying to play a Petrucci, no place near me has one, but I am confident if the Petrucci model is anywhere near as good as the Luke that is definitely going to be my next guitar. Anyone mind giving me a quick comparison?

I will find a way to get my hands on a Petrucci one of these days...
Some dude in one of the bands my band has played with has a loaded buttercream one...next time we play a show together maybe he'll let me test drive it, haha.

Just finished practicing a little this morning w/ my Luke and I love it. I also have a JP and while the neck profiles are different (JP a bit wider and flatter) I have no problem alternating between the two. The JP is a little bigger and heavier than the Luke but they are equally awesome. I usually rotate between the two and once in a while take the Axis out for a spin.

The Luke guitar is amazing. The Luke has the best intonation of any guitar I have owned. Go for it.

How close is the luke neck to the axis neck? The axis neck shape is what has me addicted to EBMMs....from what i hear, the JPs have a wide, thin neck (similar to Ib***z necks) and I'm not into that.

Just played my Luke for about 6hours today on and off. I would put it away, do some errands, pick it back up and play again. It's like musical crack. I'm so freakin addicted.

Aye, I'll just wait till I get my hands on a JP for a good comparison.

The GC in East Brunswick, NJ had a Pearl Redburst JP last time I was there, which was about 2 weeks ago. Its been there for a while. You should check it out, I think you'd fall in love instantly with one of those. By the way, were you the dude who was jamming at the GC in Cherry Hill on the Mesa Roadster the day of the Portnoy meet and greet thing? If so you've got some impressive chops.

Nice, thanks for the info. Hopefully by the time I can get down there it'll still be there.

There's just something about the Luke, how it plays in tune, the frets used, and the slight V neck . . .

The single coil cleans are almost in a class of their own, partly due to their more open (wider) frequency response. And you can actually turn down the tone control for a fatter tone without everything going dead.

Ha ha, I spent a lot of time with that particular guitar. I tried to do a trade but they wouldn't budge. If you want to do comparisons, they also have a black Luke, two Axis, and a 20th Silo.
The Petrucci neck is similar to the Ibanez, but has a tiny bit more to the back. I a/b'ed it with a Jem and found the JP6 much more comfortable. While waiting to see if the JP6 deal would go through, I tried out the Luke. Man was I impressed! It's thicker than the JP6 but very comfortable. Since I have a V-neck Strat, the shape was home to me, except it felt so much better with the unfinished neck. No stickiness whatsoever. It's now on my "to buy" list.

Awesome. If I had the cash I'd buy that 20th Silo. Maybe I'll try to score one of those when it comes time to get my next Ball!
