Hey, I feel your pain. I tried out kbaim's when I was in Cali and did not like it. Now, the Axis he had, SWEEEETT! The Luke sounded GREAT, especially with kbaim playing it!....hehehehehe......it is not for everyone, but, EBMM has a guitar for you if you don't like one of their other brands. That's what makes EB so great!

My brother has a Luke mk1 and it has a tiny neck - to me it feels smaller than my Sil Spec or EVH. What amazes me is that one of his other guitars is a custom shop reissue 58 goldtop with a mammoth neck and he seems to have no problem going from one to another. What he does say is that the Luke takes an hour or so to get used to as the neck is so small - personally, I prefer the EVH neck, but that's just because that's what I'm used to

thats weird, I felt the silo neck is smaller, maybe the silo has a short scale neck, I'll have to check (frets are closer together)

In all fairness, all EBMM necks feel kind of dinky - I think partly it's an optical illusion because the headstock ends so quickly. In reality they are full 25.5 scale length. I go through phases where I love them, and other times where I play other brands for whatever reason eg. I love my PRS as the neck is very wide and flat so if I'm playing something quite intricate, it can be easier than on my EBMMs. Also if I'm playing something with lots of vibrato, or if I really want to dig in with a chord, I'll play my strat cause it has a scalloped neck. Other times, nothing but my EVH will do, but I hate restringing it - Floyds are a pain in the ass...

i refuse to ever get another guitar with floyd rose for that reason... also, it was cool in the 80's, but now they make me chuckle... :D

If the EVH wasn't my baby, I'd lose it in a heartbeat, but I love the thing and as I said, sometimes it is the only guitar I want to play. However, I doubt very much if I would even consider another guitar with floyd. Unless I cave in and buy a y2d Morse - I can't stand how the fixed bridge looks on that model so I'd have to go with a floyd- Just a matter of time before the angry mob hassle me for dissing anything about any EBMM guitar...

?!?!?! The Luke probably has the smallest neck I've ever played! Back when I was playing Jems, I thought it felt like a ukelele...

neastguy,

Just for your information I was at a music shop in Youngstown the other day "New York Music" (only about an hour from you) and they had a couple of pets and, if I remember correctly, a couple of axis - axis' - axisi? (whatever the plural may be) there at good prices. The store is going out of business and they are blowing things out. I was there looking for an amp to replace my fried MK IV. Had no luck with that, but luckily my amp was able to be repaired.

True. I went from a Universe to the Luke and it took a day or so to adjust. But now I'm playing far better than ever, never get wrist or finger ache and it feels like melted wax in my hands. i adore that neck  I went back to play a Universe recently and it felt like playing a 2x4 plank

The frets aren't closer together either...they're laid out to fit the scale length....which is 25.5" on all ebmm guitars currently...
